An old non-Energy Star −80°C freezer can use the same amount of electricity as two homes.
At UCSF, if all Ultra-low Temperature (ULT) freezers were replaced with Energy Star models, it would result in $2.1 million in utility cost savings. ENERGY STAR ULT freezer owners gain an average of 35% more storage for the same area of floor space.
$10,000 ULT Freezer Rebate Program
The updated program offers rebates of up to $10,000 for replacing old inefficient -80°C ULT freezers with Energy Star certified models.
Get a $4,000 instant rebate for the purchase of a new Energy Star freezer and an additional $6,000 rebate upon the disposal of the old inefficient working freezer.
