Private swim lessons are offered exclusively at Mission Bay. A UCSF Fitness & Recreation Membership is required for at least one adult participant or parent, as well as for any child aged 3 and above enrolled in lessons.
Our private lessons provide one-on-one instruction tailored to each swimmer’s individual needs – whether they are new to the water or working on advanced technique. Each lesson is 30 minutes long and offers personalized coaching to help swimmers progress at their own pace.
Membership Required
All participants must be active members of the Fitness Center to enroll in private lessons. Participants ages 16 and older must have their own membership. Participants ages 3-15 must be attached to a parent's membership.

How Private Swim Lesson Registration Works

Completing the attached Google Form serves as both the sign-up and waitlist for private lessons.
• The form does not close, so swimmers may register at any time.
• When a swimmer drops their spot or a time becomes available, Aquatics staff will reach out by phone or email following the order of the waitlist.
• Completing the form does not guarantee a spot, but it ensures you are contacted as openings occur.
In the form, you will also select your top three preferred lesson times, allowing us to assign you an available slot when one becomes available.
Assigning a Time Slot
We will schedule your lesson based on your top three choices.
• If your preferred times are full, we will notify you and keep you on the waitlist for those options.
• We can also share any remaining available times if you’re flexible.
Once assigned, your lesson time remains the same each week until you cancel.
Monthly Fees
Private lessons are billed on the 1st of each month. This is a recurring monthly payment until you cancel.
Payments
After receiving your confirmation email with your assigned lesson day and time, please visit the Membership Desk in person to make your payment.
Payment must be completed by the 1st of the first month to secure and maintain your spot.
Make-Up Policy & Cancellations
We do not offer make-up lessons for missed classes.
If you plan to discontinue lessons, please notify us by the second week of the month so we can stop billing and offer the spot to the next swimmer on the waitlist.
