Parnassus Central Utility Plant (PCUP) | PCUP is the backbone of facility operations by delivering utilities such as electricity, steam, chilled water and compressed air. |
Building Automation | Facilities Services Building Automation oversees these building control systems' operation, installation, and maintenance. Their mission is to ensure the physical environment supports UCSF’s research, education, healthcare, and community service goals by keeping all systems functioning reliably and efficiently. Through these efforts, UCSF maintains safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible facilities that support its mission. |
Commissioning & Controls | Facilities Services Commissioning oversees and commissions building systems to meet their functional requirements. Through rigorous commissioning practices, UCSF ensures that its facilities operate efficiently, providing safe and comfortable environments that align with the university's sustainability objectives and support its diverse activities. |
Energy Conservation and Water Management | Facilities Services promotes and implements energy conservation and management, including technical planning and upgrades to building systems such as lighting and HVAC. Services include field estimates, planning, development, and implementation of upgrades in lighting, HVAC, and other systems to promote energy and operational efficiency. |
Utilities Efficiency, Energy Procurement | Facilities Services procures and manages purchased utilities for the campus. The three principal purchased utilities are electricity, natural gas, and water. The campus also generates chilled water and steam. Engineering and Energy Services coordinates with utilities suppliers on behalf of the campus and develops agreements and contracts. Engineering and Energy Services also provides utility price forecasts and utility budget updates. |
Utilities Planning | This unit provides design review services for all construction projects, including new and retrofit projects. These services are specifically aimed at assuring compliance with UCSF Facilities Design Guidelines and good design practices as well as compatibility with existing systems. They are the designated owners to ensure that new installations are designs that meets the universities long-term needs. |
Professional Engineering | Mechanical and electrical systems engineering design can be provided in-house for small and medium-sized projects. |
