UCSF Health is dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint, not only for the health of the planet, but also for the health of our patients and broader community. Along with the other University of California Health locations, UCSF Health has signed onto the White House Climate Pledge, committing to reduce emissions by 50% (of 2009 baseline year levels) by 2030, and to reach net zero by 2050. Our goal is to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025, and for Scope 3 emissions by 2050.
The Greenhouse Gas Dashboard is an accumulation of data from the energy, food and nutrition, transportation, and OR sectors at UCSF Health West Bay locations. Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions produced by UCSF Health. Scope 2 emissions are purchased emissions. Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions. They are not directly produced or purchased by UCSF Health but are a result of UCSF Health activities. (Note: these do not encompass all Scope 3 emissions at UCSF Health but covers the Scope 3 emissions that data is currently available for).
