The UC President’s Bonnie Reiss Leading on Climate Fellowship funds student-led projects that advance the University of California’s goal to achieve 90% decarbonization by 2045—making UC the first major university to commit to this ambitious climate target. The program is administered at each location, including all 10 campuses and five academic health centers, to align student efforts with local needs. At UCSF, the Fellowship supports initiatives that promote sustainability and climate resilience in clinical and health science environments.
2026-2027 Leading on Climate Fellowship Opportunities
The UCSF Office of Sustainability is recruiting up to five UC student fellows, with each fellow receiving up to a $5,000 fellowship award.
Fellowship opportunities are available in the following areas:
- Campus Lab/Research Facility Decarbonization and Engagement – Green Labs certification, laboratory sustainability, stakeholder engagement, energy efficiency in the lab space, and behavior change
- Health Climate Action and Engagement – Healthcare sustainability, sustainable food, waste reduction, and engagement
Sustainable Agriculture and Food – Sustainable food systems, procurement, food waste reduction, and community engagement
Fellows will work approximately 5–10 hours per week from October 2026 through May/June 2027. Applicants must be currently enrolled UC students.
