Having engaged in extensive reflection on climate change, the urgent need for climate action, and our roles as individuals and advocates, a profound realization has emerged–we’re in this global environmental predicament because we all have been doing too much.
We produce and consume more than we need. So, we’re here to ask you to do less. We must drive, buy, and consume natural resources less. Doing less will give the natural world the space it needs to exist, grow, and heal.
Why are we showing animals? Because even the farthest wild animal from you right now is impacted by excess carbon, also known as global warming, plus they're cute and nice to look at. "We chose to use animals because everyone loves them and I'm sure we can change our habits to reduce air pollution for them, and for us," said Gail Lee, director, Office of Sustainability. The animals in the campaign represent every part of the world because we can't target an area to reduce carbon emissions, it's a worldwide issue. Your environmental actions and decisions here are felt by everyone on Earth and impact all animal species. Don’t do this for yourself, do it for the greater good. Do it for the flying monkey, red panda, yellow jacket, and the joey.
This campaign supports UCSF's decarbonization goals.
What you can do today:
Take the Pledge
Live mindfully. Go about your day experiencing every action, reflecting on it, and learning. We believe that slowing down and doing less–driving less, taking shorter showers, unplugging your electronics, turning down the heat, sorting waste appropriately–will start a chain reaction of events benefiting every living thing on Earth.
Take the pledge to do less.
Recognize Action
