UCSF partners with Bright Horizons® to offer high-quality back-up care to eligible members of the UCSF community. Turn to the Back-Up Care Program to manage your family's care needs when school is closed, a sitter cancels or a regular caregiver is unavailable. See program updates.
Eligibility
Back-up Care Program eligibility is limited to the following:
• UCSF Faculty in the Ladder Rank, Professor in Residence and Clinical X series
• UCSF Faculty in the Adjunct and Health Sciences Clinical Professor series with appointments of 51% or more paid by UCSF
• UCSF Residents and Clinical Fellows (as appointed by the UCSF and UCSF Fresno Offices of Graduate Medical Education)

Program Updates:
• You may now reserve care up to 180 days in advance (as opposed to 90 days in advance).
• Care used on or after May 12, 2023 is now taxable. See the Fair Market Values effective January 1, 2025.
• Do you usually request a COVID-vaccinated caregiver for in-home back-up care? There are new instructions (look under FAQs) for such requests starting May 11, 2023.
