Virtual Support Group for Caregivers of Older Loved Ones
This weekly virtual support group is designed for UCSF employees and learners who are actively caring for older loved ones. Registration closed on September 30, 2025. Years Ahead, A Bright Horizons Service
Years Ahead is a web-based tool that assists families as they navigate the process of finding care for their aging loved ones. Services includes resources that help you better understand various care options such as independent/assisted living, nursing homes and home health care, and referrals that connect with you with care providers across the U. S. Years Ahead also offers phone consultations with certified senior advisors if additional guidance is needed, thereby alleviating some of the stress of choosing the best senior care for your family.
UC/UCSF pays for Years Ahead access; individuals are fully responsible for paying for the care they find through Years Ahead.

Join half a million Sittercity users across the U.S., including the more than 800 registered UCSF faculty, staff and student families and find your next in-home helper today.
UC/UCSF pays for web subscription access to Sittercity resources for eligible faculty, staff, and learners (a $180 value). Web access allows you to browse in-home helper profiles and reviews, run unlimited free basic background checks (a $20 value), post jobs, and more. However, all individuals are fully responsible for paying for the care they use through Sittercity.

Bright Horizons Back-Up Care
UCSF partners with Bright Horizons Family Solutions, a leading provider of employer-sponsored family resources, to offer this benefit for UCSF students and UCSF/UCSF Fresno faculty, residents, and clinical fellows at rates much lower than the actual cost of care. Access high-quality in-home back-up care when you need to be at school or work and your regular adult/elder care is unavailable. Advance registration is required. Note: Back-Up Care benefits are taxable.
Benefits
Students receive 10 back-up care days per academic year.
Faculty and trainees receive 20 back-up care days per academic year.

PREPARE for Your Care Program
PREPARE for Your Care, an online advance care planning (ACP) program, uses video stories and easy-to-read advance directives to help people make medical decisions based on their values, both now and in the future. Through ACP, individuals can have a voice in their healthcare, name a trusted person to make medical decisions in case of an emergency, and prepare for medical decision making.
Clarity
Clarity offers information on financial and legal care planning for aging, the spectrum of long term care supports and services and who pays for them, paid family leave/worker protections, and other topics. A related website, Clarity Pro, is a tool for professionals to screen for and learn how to address common socio-legal needs in elder care.
UCSF Community Rehabilitation Clinic
Staffed and run by volunteers (physical therapy faculty members and UCSF physical therapy students), the UCSF Community Rehabilitation Clinic aims to provide rehabilitation and physical therapy services to uninsured and underinsured patients, at no cost, with the goal of improving the health and quality of life of underserved populations in the Bay Area.
