B1 Level closure
December 20, 2025 – January 4, 2026

In order to take advantage of the holiday break and minimize service interruptions, the Millberry Union elevator at the B1 level will be temporarily closed from December 20 – January 4, 2026.
Alternate Route: During the closure, please use the ACC elevators as the primary path from the parking garage to the hospital.
Patient & Visitor Recommendations: We strongly encourage patients with limiting mobility needs to utilize the Valet Parking service for easier access.
As part of the Millberry Union ADA and Patient Wayfinding Project, this closure will support ADA compliance upgrades and safety improvements to benefit staff, learners and visitors.

Background
Our ADA Upgrades and Pathfinding Project is focused on modernizing the main path of travel for all university and hospital patients. We're prioritizing compliance and easy navigation through a redesign that emphasizes several key features.

1. A Welcoming Gateway
The entry lobby will be bright and functional, offering easy orientation for patients, visitors, and staff as they enter the hospital and campus.

2. Comfort and Clarity
A minimalist design for clear wayfinding to create a calming, logical experience.

3. Safety
Increased lighting and removal of trip hazards for patient, visitor, and staff safety.
FAQs
Q: When is this project taking place and what alternative routes will be available?
A: We are taking advantage of lower occupancy during the holiday break to temporarily close the Millberry Union elevator (B1 level) from December 20 – January 4, 2026. During this time, please use the ACC elevators as your primary path from the parking garage to the hospital. To ensure your visit is as easy and comfortable as possible, we strongly encourage all patients with mobility needs to use our convenient Valet Parking service.
Q: What ADA accessible routes will be available?
A: We strongly encourage all patients with mobility needs to use our convenient Valet Parking service. Alternatively, the ACC elevators will provide an accessible route from the parking garage to the hospital during the Millberry Union elevator closure. After the B1 level reopens on January 5, 2026, elevator access will remain available, but the adjacent stairs will remain closed until March 2026.
Q: How long is the projected expected to last? What if more work needs to be done after the project end date?
A: The overall project is expected to be completed in October 2026. However, the B1 level closure will only last through January 4, 2026, reopening on January 5, 2026. All project work after this date will take place during off-hours to minimize the impact on daily operations. We do not currently anticipate delays to the January 5th reopening date.
Q: What about deliveries — do they access by the ACC garage as well?
A: All deliveries will need to be directed to the ACC garage/loading dock area during this closure period.
Q: As a pedestrian who usually take the stairs, how should I navigate this closure?
A: Pedestrians who usually take the stairs can use the ACC elevators as the primary detour. From the parking levels (P4-P8), they should exit their vehicle, cross over to the ACC building, and take the ACC elevators. Alternatively, they can use the stairs from Irving Street to access other levels.
Q: If I am patient or a visitor, is there anything else I should know?
A: Parking closer to the ACC elevators will be the most convenient option during this closure. We highly recommend patients use our Valet Parking services for the smoothest experience.
Q: If I am a doctors office, clinic etc, what should I be communicating to my patients and when/how?
A: Staff should inform patients/visitors starting immediately about the Millberry Union B1 elevator closure (Dec 20 - Jan 4) and provide the alternate route via the ACC elevators. They should also strongly recommend patients with mobility concerns use the Valet Parking service. This information should be included in appointment reminders, on clinic websites, and verbally confirmed during scheduling calls.
