The Fisher Banquet Room and Robertson Auditorium in the Mission Bay Conference Center are both slated for audio-visual upgrades at the beginning of 2024.
“We are doing a full upgrade to both rooms,” said Event Service Venue Manager for Campus Life Services Conferences and Events, Emily Lefson. “This will improve the AV system in both rooms, including sound and projection.”
The project will be managed by Joshua Robson, a project manager with UCSF Campus Design and Construction.
Lefson said the improvements will also upgrade the capabilities for video conferencing in the Fisher Banquet Room. “These rooms were last updated in 2014 and 2017, so the work is needed,” she said.
The Fisher Banquet Room is the most popular room at the Mission Bay Conference Center. At 4,600-quare-feet, the room can seat 375 people with theater seating and 210 with classroom seating.
The Robertson Auditorium is the largest space at the Mission Bay Conference Center, with theater seating for up to 600 people. It also features a built-in stage, and the space can be divided into three smaller meeting rooms.
The renovation work begins Jan. 29 and is expected to be completed by April 30.
“During this work, especially during the construction, we will not be able to host large events at the Mission Bay Conference Center,” Lefson said. “Our smaller conference rooms will still be available.”
Events can also be held at the Valley Conference Center at Mission Bay or in the Millberry Union at Parnassus. “Both venues can host small to medium-sized events,” Lefson said.
While the work to upgrade the rooms at the Mission Bay Conference Center is inconvenient, Lefson said the new AV system will be welcomed. “The system will be much easier to use, provide clearer projection and better sound.”
