BayPass Continues into 2025!
In Spring 2024, UCSF invited students to join the UCSF BayPass pilot program, providing unlimited travel on any service that uses Clipper (except historic San Francisco Cable Cars, parking, BayWheels and BikeLink). To receive the Clipper BayPass, students must enroll a Clipper card serial number with the program.
The Clipper BayPass provides an affordable transportation alternative to supplement the UCSF Shuttle program. Additionally, it will reduce single occupancy vehicle trips to our campuses. UCSF embraces the City’s “transit first” policy and strives to expand access to transit options. Our emphasis on cleaner and more sustainable transportation is consistent with UCSF and UC Office of the President decarbonization goals and sustainability initiatives.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the Class Pass and BayPass arises from the 2023 Student Transit Pass referendum and is linked to the student transit fee. If you are assessed the student transit fee, you are eligible for the Class Pass / BayPass. This includes all currently registered students, including those in self-supporting degree programs. Students in Filing Fee status or exclusively in distance learning programs are ineligible.
How to enroll in the BayPass Program
The Clipper BayPass is linked to individual digital or physical Clipper Cards. When you first become eligible for the program, UCSF Transportation will email you a personalized, unique link to enroll your Clipper card in the pilot program.
Students coming to UCSF for the 2024-2025 academic year, and all newly eligible students, will receive an enrollment email as soon as they are visible in the Registrar's eligibility file.
Can I opt out of the transit fee?
Similar to the other campus-based fees, such as the Community Centers Facility Fee, Student Health, and student government fees, every eligible student will be assessed the transit fee and every student will receive the transit benefit as long as they are registered. You cannot opt out of the fee.
