This June, UCSF Transportation didn’t just keep things moving — they joined the celebration in full force at San Francisco Pride, showing up with energy, heart, and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
From handing out limited edition UCSF Transportation swag in the Castro to marching — and driving — in the Pride Parade, frontline staff embraced the spirit of Pride.
Gina Estrada leads the Transportation team during the Pride parade.
For shuttle driver Gina Estrada, it was a familiar celebration, but her first time representing UCSF.
I go every year, but this was my first time with UCSF,” she said. “It was very nice! I’ll definitely go again next year.
Estrada brought high energy to the parade, waving enthusiastically to the cheering crowd. She quickly earned a reputation among colleagues as “the rockstar of the day.”
"I was just waving like crazy,” she laughed. “People were yelling and cheering. It was so fun!"
Shuttle driver Gus Del Toro also brought the spirit, driving the UCSF bus along the parade route for the second year in a row.

“Once we made that turn onto Market Street, it was that wow moment,” he recalled. “So many people with so much energy. I was honking the horn like crazy, and the crowd loved it.”
Del Toro said being part of a Pride celebration is deeply meaningful. He sees it as an opportunity to connect with the UCSF community and show solidarity.
We’re there to help everybody,” he said. “Being part of Pride sends the message that UCSF Transportation is for every walk of life.
Both drivers expressed pride in UCSF’s growing presence at Pride events.
