If you’ve parked at UCSF recently, you’ve likely noticed that the campus garages get a lot of use. To keep everything clean and in top shape, the UCSF Parking & Transportation team is scheduling a power washing project at Millberry Union and ACC parking garages at the end of the month. This will cause a temporary garage closure for the holiday weekend.
Here’s what you need to know about the project and how it might impact you.
What’s Happening?
As part of ongoing maintenance, UCSF is planning to power wash Millberry Union and ACC parking garages at the Parnassus Heights campus. This will prepare the garage for a fresh re-stripe during the winter break – making sure it stays clean and safe for all users.
When Will It Happen?
- Date: Wednesday, Nov. 27 – Sunday, Dec. 1
- Work Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., some activities may extend into the early evening hours, depending on progress.
How Can You Prepare?
- We encourage you to park in Westside Parking at Kirkham and Koret Way. However, parking spots are limited.
- ACC Garage at Irving Street will be opened with limited space.
- Vehicles needing to be parked overnight in ACC will need to be moved by 8 a.m.
What Should You Expect?
- Noise: There will be some noise from the power washing equipment, but it will be within UCSF’s established noise standards, so it shouldn’t be disruptive.
- Temporary Traffic: Large vehicles may be parked along Irving Street for the purpose of off-hauling reclaimed water, which could cause brief delays. This is expected to be temporary, and the crew will do their best to keep traffic moving smoothly.
Why Is This Important?
The power washing is part of a bigger effort to keep the campus in good condition. By cleaning the garage surface, UCSF will make sure it’s ready for the next phase of improvements, including re-striping for additional accessible parking spaces. This is all part of an ongoing effort to keep UCSF facilities clean, accessible, and safe for all patients, visitors, and staff.
