New Illinois Street Garage Opens in Mission Bay
A new 500-space garage, located at 590 Illinois Street in Mission Bay is now open. This garage has been built to support the new clinical facility, currently under construction on Block 34 and expected to open in fall 2024. The garage design and construction incorporated sustainable practices and received a Parksmart Silver designation. The artistic façades reflect UCSF’s pristine image as a world-class healthcare institution and serve as an“uplifting, optimistic, hopeful” view for the children’s hospital or a gateway to the UCSF campus for those entering Mission Bay from the Dogpatch area in the south.
The garage will operate as a “gateless” and “cashier-less” facility for maximum convenience. There is no ticket to pull at the entry or cashier to pay at the exit. Customers will pay parking fees using their license plate number on the PayByPhone App or on-site pay stations. A fee payment is required when the vehicle is parked, not when leaving.
The garage is equipped with rolling gates and timed pedestrian access doors. On weekdays between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., gates and doors are open. Before and after hours, employees can use their valid UCSF ID badge to access the garage. Visitors and patients will need to use the intercoms at the pedestrian entrances to call UCSF Security Ambassadors for entry.
