Help us decide what to do with the space that the beloved Café 24 occupied.
Café 24, located on the second floor of Genentech Hall, closed in April 2023 leaving more than 4,000 square feet of space, plus a patio, for our reimagining. “We will not be bringing in a new retail tenant to fill that space and would like to make the most out of it. This contest is our way of giving back to the UCSF community which has been extremely supportive of our on-campus eateries,” said Tamara Villarina, retail services manager.
Put on your creative-thinking hat and help us decide how to flip the space so that it brings value to you and your community. Plus, you could win a $75 Visa gift card.
There could be:
- Fresh food vending
- Lounge seating
- Break space
- Meeting space
- Gardens
- Outdoor meeting space

Please email your ideas to Jennifer Dowd Kim, the Associate Director for Retail Services at Jennifer.Dowd@ucsf.edu by August 22. Your submission should include a statement on how your idea may enhance the campus and be enjoyed by the community. Please be sure to include photos and/or a short video to better illustrate your idea.
