Why did you want to do business and develop a partnership with UCSF?
UCSF is one of the largest employers in San Francisco, with a community of more than 34,000 students, faculty, and staff. Partnering with UCSF allows Golden 1 to support a significant and diverse population while contributing to the financial well being of an institution that plays a vital role in the region.
When you first started working with UCSF, what was your vision for Golden 1’s presence and partnership here? How has that changed over time?
When I first began working with UCSF, Golden 1’s presence was limited to individuals affiliated with the state, and our Parnassus branch served only UCSF students, faculty, and employees. Over time, our vision has expanded as Golden 1 has grown. Today, we proudly serve all Californians, allowing us to deepen our relationship with the UCSF community and broaden access to our services.
What does a typical day look like for you behind the scenes?
A typical day includes opening the branch, assisting members with their financial needs, and ensuring they receive exceptional service. Our work is guided by Golden 1’s culture: We care with heart, we serve with pride, and we deliver with excellence. Every interaction is an opportunity to empower our members and strengthen our communities.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is helping members achieve their financial goals. It is incredibly rewarding to see members improve or successfully maintain/improve their credit and feel confident in their financial future.
What’s something special about Golden 1’s offerings that people might not know about?
Golden 1 is a not for profit organization focused on serving people, not shareholders. Our core values—Integrity, Reliability, Inclusion, Service, and Excellence—guide everything we do. Many may not realize how deeply member focused our mission is and how committed we are to providing accessible, community driven financial services.
What has motivated Golden 1 to sponsor the Arts and Events Block Party for the past three years?
Our continued sponsorship is driven by the strong relationship we’ve built with UCSF. Your department has supported our efforts to become more visible and engaged within the UCSF community—through advertising, shuttle bus placements, tabling opportunities, and more. These collaborations have helped us connect meaningfully with students, faculty, and staff.
Are there any current discounts, promotions, or special offers you’d like to share with the UCSF community?
