The Parnassus branch of Golden 1 Credit Union is closing after 36 years in business. The closure is part of a general restructuring that will see seven branches close.
Golden 1 signed its initial lease in October of 1986 and opened its doors on Jan. 1, 1987. Golden 1 is the main financial institution serving UCSF employees. The Mission Bay branch, located at 1560 3rd Street, will remain open.
While the Parnassus branch is closing, Golden 1 will maintain ATM locations at:
On an ongoing basis, Golden 1 carefully evaluates their branch network to ensure it best serves their membership and contributes to the long-term financial health of the credit union. Since the pandemic, Golden 1’s members’ banking behavior has changed, resulting in decreased in-person transactions across all markets and throughout the industry, and a shift to more mobile and online banking.
After thoughtful analysis, the decision has been made to permanently close the UCSF branch. This decision may impact some members, employees, and the community. The Mission Bay branch, located at 1560 3rd St., will remain open.
