Housing proudly offers five multipurpose community rooms designed for our residents to enjoy.
Whether you’re looking for a space to unwind, connect, or host an event, these rooms are here to elevate your living experience! Housing residents can reserve these rooms through EMS. Reservations may be made between 5 and 90 days in advance, with a maximum duration of 6 hours per event.

The Aldea Center On Mount Sutro
Getting here:
We are located at 155 Johnstone Drive at the top of Medical Center Way at the Parnassus Campus. The Aldea Center’s main event space is upstairs. There is an elevator off of the loading/unloading driveway, as well as stairs to access the 2nd level. The loading/unloading driveway has one parking spot designated ADA. Please do not pull into the driveway otherwise as it is used by staff and caterers.
Shuttle Information:
Guests can take the Bronze shuttle from Parnassus to Aldea. Passes are required to ride the Bronze shuttle. Send a request for temporary shuttle passes to housing@ucsf.edu. If your event will have more than 30 attendees who will be utilizing the shuttle, you may want to reserve a private shuttle by contacting UCSF’s Parking and Transportation department.
Parking:
There are 28 parking spaces reserved for guests of the Aldea Center. There are 10 spaces numbered 500 - 510 directly in front of the center and an additional 18 spots up Johnstone Drive, numbered 511 - 522 and 524 - 531. Please be sure not to park in a blue or yellow spot as these are designated for Residents and you may be ticketed or towed. Additional street parking can be found on Clarendon Avenue.
Features:
The Great Room is a resource for all Aldea San Miguel Residents and can be used as a place to lounge, study, hold events, meetings, and parties.
- Fits up to 50 people.
- The room contains 8 Banquet Tables (6 foot) tables, 40-50 grey chairs, 2 sectional couches, 2 coffee tables and 2 end tables.
- There are two restrooms within the Great Room.
- There is access to a full kitchen.
The Mission Bay Housing Community Room
Getting here:
The community room is located at 525 Nelson Rising Lane, Room 112, on the first floor of the North building at the Mission Bay housing complex. We suggest parking in any of the UCSF Mission Bay parking structures/lots. Alternatively, you may take the Muni T-train.
Features:
The Community Room is a resource for all Mission Bay Residents and can be used as a place to lounge, study, hold events, meetings, and parties.
- Fits up to 50 people.
- Floor-to-ceiling windows with blinds on three sides of the room.
- 2 restrooms available.
- Full kitchen complete with refrigerator, oven range, microwave.
- Furniture in the room: 8 square tables, 30 chairs, L-shaped couch, a foosball table, a coffee table, a conference table, and 10 conference chairs.
- Food and drink are allowed, however, alcohol is pro
The Pelican & Sandpiper Rooms At The Tidelands
Getting here:
The Pelican Room is located at 590 Minnesota Street, between Mariposa and 18th Streets. The room is on the first floor, just to the right of the building entrance.
The Sandpiper Room is located in 600 Minnesota Street, between 18th and 19th Streets. The room is on the first floor, behind the lobby.
We are located just across the street from the Benioff Children’s Hospital at Mission Bay. Easily accessible by foot or by UCSF Green Shuttle. Parking is available in the Mission Bay parking garages.
Features:
- The Pelican room holds 50 people; the Sandpiper room holds 25 people.
- There are rectangular tables, chairs, and a kitchenette.
- Restrooms are available just across the hall.
- The Sandpiper Room opens up to the 600 Minnesota courtyard.
The Community Room At Mount Zion Housing
This space is for Mount Zion Housing Resident use only and is not reservable. This is a shared space that can be used for personal small events, study or work space, watching TV/Movies, and small meetings. Please be mindful of the next user and leave the space as you found it.
Note:
“Residents” are defined as Housing Agreement holders or other adults (spouses, partners, roommates) who live in UCSF Housing and are listed on the Housing Agreement.
Residents may use the rooms for up to 12 hours per month for free, with a limit of 6 hours per reservation. The rooms are available 7 days a week. Please note that cancellations should be received 24 hours prior to the time of your reservation to allow others use of the space.
Room Policies, Cleaning & Maintenance
The Resident making the reservation is considered the "Event Host." The Event Host is expected to adhere to all policies in their Housing agreement along with the specific room policies outlined in the reservation request. Some policies include:
- Event Host will limit attendee numbers based on the specific room capacity.
- The Event Host is responsible for maintaining their own guest list and should prohibit any non-guests from entering the event.
- UCSF strongly recommends that all guests attending in-person events at UCSF are up to date with their vaccinations and boosters, if eligible (UCSF Special Event Policy).
- Masking is encouraged but not required at events held on campus (Policy Reference)
- Residents and guests may enjoy food and drink in community rooms, however, smoking and drinking alcohol are prohibited. Residents are responsible for leaving rooms clean and organized.
- Residents must remove all trash, recycling, and compost at the end of an event. Residents who find the facility needing cleanup or maintenance should report this to Housing Services immediately. Otherwise, the user is liable for cleaning charges and maintenance repairs. Residents may utilize available cleaning supplies to clean the space.
Cleanup or maintenance performed by Housing Services staff will be billed to the resident's account at Housing Services. The charge for this is at the rate of $60/hr for Aldea and Mission Bay and $90/hr for Tidelands.
Residents will receive an email with the policies and guidelines specific to their community room before the date of their reservation. Please read these guidelines closely, as failure to adhere to the rules could result in penalties.
