Living in campus housing at a healthcare institution requires us to be extra vigilant about infection control. We have these monkeypox (MPX) policies in place to protect the safety of our Residents, visitors, and guests.
Please refer to the UCSF and city and county resources, here:

If you are symptomatic:
If you are a Housing Resident with MPX symptoms, and are awaiting testing and diagnosis results, you will remain in place and isolate away from others during the testing period. If needed, Residents can find their own isolation housing off campus.
If you test positive for MPX:
• Upon receiving proof of MPX-positive test result, Housing Services encourages Residents in shared housing to seek off-campus isolation housing for the duration of their illness.
• Residents can find off-campus housing to continue their isolation in this online guide. Housing Services will not cover costs of alternative accommodations though Rapid Rehousing funds may be available through Financial Aid.
• Housing Services will make an exception to allow MPX-positive Residents in shared housing to immediately terminate their Housing Agreement for the remainder of the term if they so desire.
• Residents will be encouraged to remain in place and isolate away from others. These Residents will not have the option to terminate their Housing Agreement unless they withdraw/disaffiliate from UCSF. You may apply for housing termination via the Housing Portal.
CDC Guidance for cleaning your home:
Please review the CDC guidance for reducing MPX transmission in shared housing.
• Housing Services leadership, as well as Facilities Services managers who work with or in campus housing, have been provided the CDC guidance.
• Housing Services will provide PPE (upon request), to the infected Resident as well as to all roommates within the household.
Please contact Housing@ucsf.edu for PPE or with any additional questions you may have.
