- More Accessible Parking: Additional spaces have been designated for patients and visitors with mobility needs.
- Improved Wayfinding: New signs make navigation easier, ensuring visitors can quickly find their way to the hospital.
- Reoriented Parking Stalls: Angled parking spaces allow for smoother entry and exit, reducing the risk of accidents.
- Enhanced Safety Measures: Repairs to waterproofing, upgraded ramps, and improved paths of travel now meet current accessibility codes.
- A Fresh New Look: Power washing and fresh paint have revitalized the space, creating a cleaner, more welcoming environment.

“With more aging visitors, we needed to ensure safe, accessible parking and clear wayfinding so patients can navigate the hospital with ease,” said Edward To, senior project manager.
A Vibrant, Welcoming Design
One of the most noticeable changes is the rainbow effect created by UCSF’s signature colors on each level of the garage. This not only enhances wayfinding but also adds a bright and welcoming touch to the surrounding neighborhood.
“From the outside, you can see the painted columns, giving the garage a vibrant look while improving navigation for drivers and pedestrians,” To explained.
