UCSF's Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) is preparing for its first-ever Continuous Improvement Fair on Monday, October 28.
“UCSF has been driving continuous improvement for some time,” explained Cesar Sanchez, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Facilities Services. “Now it’s time to step back, recognize all the great work that has been done and celebrate our people and their achievements.”
UCSF uses CI to empower work groups to review, assess and improve their processes.
According to Sanchez, there are many benefits a department can experience when using CI – such as better morale and employee engagement, more sense of community by working across departments and building strong partnerships, and ultimately, less of the “busy work” that doesn’t add value to the organization's mission.
CI Fair guests will have the opportunity to visit FAS booths with exciting topics, to network with colleagues, and to hear from keynote speaker Sammy Obara about how he was inspired to bring Lean to many countries and help diverse communities. There will also be an award ceremony to recognize those who have played an integral role in shaping our continuous improvement history within FAS. Sanchez also guarantees the CI Fair will be fun!
"Don’t forget the ‘fair’ part of the event name. That wasn’t put in the title by chance,” he said. “We promise you - fun! For those details, you’ll just need to come and experience the CI Fair for yourselves."
The 1st Annual Continuous Improvement Fair is happening Monday, October 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Robertson Auditorium in the Mission Bay Conference Center.
