The custodial team at UCSF is gearing up for their peak season with the housing turnover coming up in July. During this time, the team will be conducting a major cleaning of 200-300 apartment units to prepare the space for new tenants. To align with Regents Policy 5402 and UCSF’s initiative to be a leader in the UC system by insourcing all custodial work, our team will reallocate their efforts to focus on this essential task. We are hiring temporary staff specifically for the housing turnover to minimize impact on regular services, however, there will be temporary adjustments across the rest of the campus to accommodate the peak season. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
Impacts on Custodial Services (July 1 - August 30):
- Office Cleaning: Reduced from weekly to monthly.
- Common Areas (Lobbies, Public Hallways, and Stairwells): Cleaned on an as-needed basis.
- Special Cleaning Requests: May experience delays (e.g., floor stripping and waxing, high cleaning, carpet cleaning, etc.).
Affected Buildings:
- Mission Bay Campus: Cardiovascular Research, Genentech Hall, Rock Hall, Byers Hall, Mission Hall, Helen Diller, Rutter Center, 654 Minnesota, 2001 Embarcadero, Mission Center.
- Parnassus Campus: Millberry Union, IRM, Health Science (East and West), Medical Science, Clinical Science, School of Nursing, Kalmanovitz Library. Note: Labs, clinical spaces, restrooms, break/town centers, classrooms, public conference rooms, lactation rooms, SLAs, and centralized waste collection will not be impacted.
