The First Impressions Contest we all know, and love is getting a facelift! Launched in 2017, the contest quickly became an icon for campus improvement; engaging learners, staff, and faculty in transforming eyesores into welcoming spaces. From landscaping common areas and sprucing up building entrances to renovating student lounges, the contest has reenergized over 50 campus spaces.
Over the years, the contest program and scope have expanded, reaching a wider audience and the changing needs of the campus community. As our new Facilities Assistant Vice Chancellor, Cesar Sanchez, steps into the role of taking over the First Impressions Contest, we will use this transition period as an opportunity to reflect on how this program can better fit the needs of the community as our campus continues to grow. Our goal is to ensure that the contest delivers an even better experience for participants when we reopen it in the beginning of 2025.
"I'm excited about continuing the success of this contest while also making slight changes to ensure it continues meeting the current needs of our community,” said Sanchez.
To achieve this, we have decided to pause the contest for 2024. This will allow us time to reimagine and enhance the program. Rest assured, when the First Impressions Contest returns in 2025, it will create more significant and lasting impacts across UCSF. Stay tuned for updates on last year's projects as they reach completion, and more information about the exciting changes to come!
The contest will relaunch early 2025.
