This year’s UCSF Facilities Services Center of Excellence Conference 8.0 will focus on the theme of business resilience and will be held both in-person and on Zoom starting Monday, Jan. 29 through Thursday, Feb. 1.
“This year, we bring a special experience to attendees by weaving the theme of business resilience into the event,” said Assistant Vice Chancellor, Cesar Sanchez. “This means we are leveraging the COE platform to collaborate and conceptualize about how we can provide uninterrupted critical services to UCSF before, during, and after catastrophic events.”
Headlining the list of speakers will be the new Executive Director of Enterprise Emergency Management for UCSF, Justin Dombrowski. Dombrowski will discuss the human factors associated with disasters.
Dombrowski has more than 30 years of experience in emergency management, from serving as a volunteer firefighter to leading the federal response and recovery to disasters designated by the President of the United States. His presentation will be held at 1:46pm on Monday, Jan. 29.
“Justin will partner closely with UCSF leadership to set and implement the strategic vision and plan for emergency management and business continuity activities for UCSF Health, including UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital, and the UCSF Campus, including all schools research labs and UCSF Fresno,” said Sanchez.
David J. Canepa, the current president of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, will be the keynote speaker for this year's conference. In addition to Canepa and Dombrowski, there will be four additional featured speakers, including Vice President of Digital Services Enablement at Agilent Technologies, Paul Hofstadler; Director of Biopharma and Strategic Engagement at PHC of North America, Mark Brassard; CEO at Filoli, Kara Newport; and Maria Breaux, and independent filmmaker.
The four-day conference features more than 30 sessions covering topics such as efforts to enhance governance structures, documentation, resource management and overall performance.
