To kick off this year’s Gallup Engagement Survey season, Conference Services, Arts and Event, Retail Services (Team CAR) stepped out of the office for a Day O’ Fun – the giving back edition!

The team spent half the day volunteering at Family House, providing food for staff and families—generously donated by Peasant Pies and SF Kebab—leading a DIY pendant-making craft with resident families through Arts and Events, and putting in some good old-fashioned elbow grease to clean the four community kitchens.

Family House is a supportive home-away-from-home where families can stay together while their seriously ill child receives treatment at UCSF. It provides a safe, organized, and compassionate environment for families who travel at least 50 miles to San Francisco—many of whom are navigating one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Team CAR wrapped up the day with a visit to Señor Sisig at Thrive City, where they had the chance to meet co-founder, CEO, and former CLS colleague Evan Kidera. Evan shared how his time at UCSF helped shape his vision for creating a strong sense of community through Señor Sisig—something he first experienced working at the former UCSF Bookstore back in 2010.
