If you are returning to work on-site at UC San Francisco you might have some questions on what’s new or how things work today. What’s on the menu for campus dining? How has office waste pick-up changed? What fitness programs are available? Campus Life Services (CLS) is providing the Scoop! For a full list of current Scoops, scroll to the bottom of this story and check back regularly.
To help you navigate UCSF today, CLS is launching information sessions affectionally called “The Scoop.” Sessions are meant to be tidbits of information that explain service or operational changes, provide tips on how to sign-up for services, etc., said Cathleen Stugard, chief of staff at CLS.
“These Scoops of information will be especially important as more staff transition back to campus after working remotely for the past two years,” Stugard elaborated.
Associate Director of Marketing & Strategic Communication at CLS, Monica Mapa, said Scoops are deliberately short, less than 20 minutes, and typically focus on a single topic. “That way, employees can get exactly the information they need without a large time commitment,” she said.
Scoops will be presented on Zoom and added to the CLS YouTube account so members of the UCSF community can view them at their leisure.
Scoops are advertised on the UCSF Campus Calendar and on digital signs and will be delivered by Campus Life subject matter experts.
“We look at the customer service questions being sent our way and if there seems to be a pattern or recurring themes, we will create a Scoop,” Mapa said.
Transportation hosted the first Scoop last March. “Participants were interested in learning how to pay for parking - by the month or day - and how to use the Pay-by-Phone option,” said Transportation Specialist Arleen Bandarrae. “We were able to provide employees with information on how to save money on parking and transit expenses by signing up for the pre-tax Commuter Benefits program,” Bandarrae said. In addition, employees learned that they can park at any campus location with in-and-out privileges and use the convenient Pay-by-Phone option.

UCSF Housing recently hosted a Scoop for learners, staff, and faculty. It covered how to apply, who currently lives in campus housing, the types of housing available, off-campus housing, and short-term lodging opportunities.
“Everyone wants the Scoop on topics, in order to be in the know,” Stugard said. “We are hopeful that, by presenting information in smaller bites to those that seek specific information, we can better serve the UCSF community.”
