What does OBGYN Near-Peer Mentorship Program offer?
Near-Peer Mentorship in OBGYN was formed two years ago to provide affinity-based near-peer mentorship to medical students interested in OBGYN. We offer a combination of small (with near peer pods consisting of members across classes) and large group (eg assisting with OBGYN clerkship orientations, residency interview prep, clerkship panel, STEP1/2 prep, etc.) sessions, as well as written guides on specific topics (eg requesting LORs, ERAS, etc).
How can one support your community?
For students interested in OBGYN, the best way to support NPM is to join a mentorship pod, attend/organize large group sessions, and facilitate discussions across classes.
What is OBGYNNPM working on this year that you would like to share?
This year, we started the Clerkship Support Team (CST) to provide support to all MS3s on their OBGYN rotations through surgical skills prep (orientation), shelf review sessions, and connecting current clerkship students with people who have completed the rotation to reach out to for support and advice!
How can someone join OBGYNNPM?
Reach out to either rachel.mernoff@ucsf.edu or annaclaire.fernandez@ucsf.edu
The group is advised by Jeannette C. Lager, MD, gynecologist.
